TASK
Project 1A: Sound Dubbing

For this task, we were given one of the EEAAO scenes without any audio at all. We had to find the sound effects ourselves and use our own voices to voiceover the characters.

First, we formed a group to find suitable sound effects that we can use for each scene and compile them into a Google Sheet.

Afterwards, we also recorded our own voices for each character. When editing, we used Pitch Shifter to pitch our voices to make it more similar to the character.

In the end, I used 3 audio tracks for 3 of the characters, 3 audio tracks for sound effects, and 1 audio track for background ambience.

Project 1B: Sound Shaping
For Sound Shaping, we have to record our own voice and shape them into the situations below using Adobe Audition:
  1. Voice of phone call
  2. Voice coming from inside of closet
  3. Voice of toilet/bathroom
  4. Underground cave
  5. Alien/ Orc voice
For phone call, I practised what I learnt in the tutorial and reapply to my own audio through Parametric Equalizer.

For voice in the closet, I practised what I learnt for the muffled voice in tutorial and reapply.

For voice in the toilet, I played around with the reverb, especially on the dry and wet output level to make sure while the voice is clear it still has some echo as toilets usually have hard tile walls.

For voice in the cave, I reduced my dry output level and increase wet output level to make my own voice more like echoes.

I decided to go for the alien voice for my last audio shaping. While I tried playing with the pitch shifter and reverb, I also discovered a function called flanger and play around to get my voice sound alien.

REFLECTIONS
Overall, this was a fun project where I got to play around with my voice into different characters and different environments. The main challenge I faced in this project was during Project 1A where I have to align the sound effects with the timing of the frames in the scenes because it was time-consuming. This challenge didn't reduce my fun in this project though as I was glad with how the end product came out.
